This 4" vase is covered with a blistered chocolate colored glaze. It appears to signed with an early stoneware mark LUCIE RIE, where initials are super imposed upon one another.Could this be authentic??

No, not an authentic pot made by Lucie Rie, IMHO. Form is wrong, signature is wrong, trimmed bottom is wrong, among other things. See the book "Lucie Rie" by Tony Birks, to confirm.
