This 2 1-4"H x 2 1-2"W parrot fur clip sits atop a rhinestone branch, with colorful enameling, pave white rhinestones and red cab eye, in a sterling vermeil (gold wash) setting. By CoroCraft (division of Coro founded ca 1901) from the 1940s

Wow, that is a beautiful bird brooch!
I really like his head- it's very mechanical and strange looking?! His style makes me picture a kookaburra or something? I also love his more pale and subtle colouring which you don't often see in tropical birds!

Early Coro is so striking. Love the attitude of the head, and almost sly expression. The enameling is in perfect condition. Really a superb clip.
You know what I like? It's the unique taste you have for figurines and brooches of animals, that combines on this post for a gorgeous bird wearable little treasure. Thanks for posting Jenni.

Thanks Lauren for the lovely compliments and yes the colors are rather subtle, CoroCraft was fond of using that sea green color around the branches, and I think his bottom feathers have rather a tribal blanket design :) Could it have been inspired by the kookaburra that's quite possible!

Many thanks Maureen for the fab compliments, love that head tilt too it is a classic inquisitive bird pose - my former pet parakeet would often adopt that pose when he was listening to us talk, trying to learn new words - very sly indeed!
Ken thank you for the super praise and you are right, it is hard to find the older CoroCraft fur clips in good condition, I just happened on this one - it's usually their enamel that takes the most beating over time, or the stones darken. A bonus was finding a bold legible signature, that too is a rarity
