Large John Lotton vase, signed and dated 1990, 10.25”H x 8.5”W, 6.0 lbs.
Selenium Red or Ruby Red interior cased in opal glass. Pink lily pad florals with green vines and overall gold luster/ iridescence. Great detail in the lily pads, perhaps including water droplets.
When in natural sunlight or when backlit, the vase appears to glow because the red interior shows through the thin outer opal layer - see pics.
John Lotton, one of Charles’ three sons, stopped glassblowing after about 20 years to make a career change into real estate development (early 2000’s I think).
Gorgeous!
Mrstyndall, thank you
A rather huge vase, it makes a statement, even the picture. This is not glassworks for the masses, everything about it is particular. Some great photos show some of the characteristics of this most beautiful vase, which some of us will never see in real life. Congratulations on this magnificent masterpiece !~
Thank you Phil. It is especially nice when someone else "gets it".
