I received this when I was eight years old (38 years ago). It was passed down to me by my Grandmother. It is a very special heirloom and I am very interested in it's value.
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

cbella65, I have a similar heirloom as a necklace also, it was given to my grandfather in 1919 by his mother with a very touching note. I have followed the value of these coins for some time and they are stuck in the $200 to $300 range which hardly seems worth the effort to sell. I'm thinking with the value of gold why not just melt it down?

Coins that have been used for jewelry lose a great deal of their numismatic value. It's value as a family heirloom is far greater then what you could get as a collectable coin or even the gold melt value if taken to a dealer.
