Simulated light and dark sapphires. Stated to most likely be a Weiss piece.
This brooch, like many others owned by the silent screen actress and movie studio owner, was sold at auction held at the Beverly Hills Hotel after her death and that of Buddy Rogers.
Beautiful & very special piece, lovely blue rhinestone design - how thrilling to own one of the iconic Ms Pickford's jewels, one of the queens of the silent film era
Hello Newfld & Eileen — Thanks for comments. Great brooch. Mary Pickford was a Canadian, so that was part of purchase decision. This specific brooch of mine was used for book about jewellery of stars ... after I bought it. I do have certification papers, of course.
Thanks for the Loves:

A great piece, she was born in Toronto and for a while wanted to use Casa Loma in Toronto to film movies. I have a picture of Fairbanks Sr and Jr together which I got from Jr.'s auction in New York in 2009 or 10 and was from his desk.
Awesome piece!
Wow. Beautiful brooch and an impeccable source!
Eileen — So interesting. I know: Gladys Smith — boring. She did well professionally. Lots of heartbreak, however. Thank you.
Thank you, Mrstyndall. Was quite excited to buy it.
PhilDMorris — I didn’t know the Casa Loma story — Thank you. Visited there as a child living in Toronto. That Fairbanks photo sounds like an excellent historical item. Great!
racer4four — I love it! Glad to discover it. Thank you.
Thanks for the Loves —

Eileen — Maybe she just needed a break from all the diamonds and emeralds. Smiles. (Shorter answer.)
