Along with Perthshire, Strathearn was another major Scottish manufacturer of paperweights. They were active from the 1960s - early 1980s & produced a wide variety of paperweights & related art glass items.
It seems that quite a lot of Strathearn's products came to Australia, & I've been fortunate to obtain numerous examples, often lucky finds at reasonable prices.
    1. This is a fairly rare piece, & a high quality item. It dates from 1970 & is a spaced millefiori on latticino (referred to in the paperweight collecting world as "upset muslin") ground. It features an "S" signature cane for Strathearn, & a "70" date cane. Flea market find, lucky old me!
    2. Five examples of Strathearn's popular closepack millefiori paperweights. These are composed of random canes set tightly on coloured grounds. From top left - large weight on pink ground, medium weight on dark green ground, miniature weight (in centre) on ochre yellow ground, large weight on vermilion red ground, medium weight on brown ground. Some of these still have original stickers on the base.
    3. The "cartwheel" was another popular design by Strathearn. It features millefiori canes set between "spokes" of latticino or colour twists.
These are the large size. The one with the green ground has a gold medallion with a thistle on it set into the base, which is a bit unusual. May be an earlier piece.
    4. Four "cartwheel" weights of medium size in various colour schemes. Some of these still retain the original stickers underneath.

Oh yes, these are so fun!!! Love them all. I'll keep a closer eye out for them now. Here's one I found but have no clue how high it might go but I'm sure you'll know!

I especially love the millefiori ones in pic 2, I own some paperweights but a very small inconsequential collection I have. I especially love the lamp shades they made with the coils so close together. I noticed that in later years they made them with very few coils and that made the lampshades dull looking and not something a collector would like at all !~
