More paperweights...from Murano, France, & USA

To round off my paperweight posts, here's a mixed bag of goodies from different places & eras.
1. Two Murano air trap satin glass paperweights, dating from the 1960s - 1970s era. These hark back to Victorian art glass in the use of the air trap/mother of pearl satin decor, however they are relatively modern pieces dating from a time when Victorian art glass was a hot collectable, thus inspiring reproduction items. These Murano pieces are typically "fantasy" items, ones that were never made in the Victorian era. Pink one is diamond quilted, rainbow has a herringbone pattern, & still retains the original label underneath. Note how the repro rainbow satin glass always has that greyish line between the blue & yellow stripes - a dead giveaway as the original Victorian rainbow satin glass did not have this issue. These paperweights are also interesting due to being hollow inside - they are large in size but surprisingly lightweight.
2. Two fine French paperweights. Left, miniature Clichy spaced millefiori from the classic period of the 1850s, & on the right, a signed Baccarat weight with candy striped canes, mid 1950s era.
3. A modern French studio glass paperweight which I purchased in 2003 on a trip to France. The artist had a studio/shop in one of the buildings at the Villandry Chateau. I visited to see the spectacular gardens, & was pleasantly surprised to find art glass as well. This is a large egg shaped weight with a swirling scrambled abstract design. I still have the original box it came in with the artist's name on it, but it is packed away somewhere. If I find it, I'll update the post to give him due credit!
4. My only American paperweight. This scrambled weight was made by Cape Cod Glassworks in the 1980s, & retains its original sticker. Their designs were somewhat influenced by Clichy, & you can see a couple of Clichy style cabbage rose canes among the random melange of latticino & colour twists.
