These are early handmade glass marbles called Peppermint Swirls. Their category is Antique Handmade marbles. In their period, a glassmaker would create a cane of glass and the particular size of marble was handgathered and twisted off the cane, creating a pontil or rough spot at the pole of the marble. These have good value today and may fetch as much as $20. each or better depending on condition and size. These were made prior to machinemade marbles in the early 1900's.

I love peppermint swirls! I've managed to acquire a pretty decent collection, but for some reason I have yet to find even one of those here in Missouri.
