Grandma and Grandpa's Chairs

When my Grandparents passed away I inherited the Windsor chair without arms. My mom and dad inherited the Captains chair and my aunt a 3rd of the same chair without arms. As the years went by my mom asked if she could have my chair to exhibit in her foyer with some other antiques. I obliged and then my dad refinished the two chairs. By my recollection the original finish was a flat black. As you can see they are still dark but show the grain of the wood and are very beautiful. When my Parents passed I ended up with both chairs as my siblings had no interest and knew I would appreciate them. The label I found that still existed was under the Captains chair. It reveals and confirms the history of the company, Pierce & Sons, having a factory and a number of store fronts in Brooklyn N.Y. until 1937. The label shows logo with Estab 1830, No 2360-4, 115-117-119 Fourth Ave Brooklyn, New York. I can only assume that my Grandparents purchased these chairs in the early 30's or late 20's.
