He's so cute! I love his little pink rooster-like comb! :P We don't actually have these birds where I live but I know what they look like and they seem like such charming creatures and bright little flames hopping about a wintry branch!

The cardinal - my favorite songbird - I have two pair that hang out around my property. A very nice glass cardinal

Lauren thank you for the fabulous compliments and imagery, yes the red cardinals (those are the males, the females only have bits of red accents but are brown) really stand out in winter against the bare trees or in the snow, as you said like little flames on otherwise gray wintry days. We seem to be having an extended winter here in NY, sometimes temps at night go down to 30F

Thank you Hoot for the wonderful compliments, I too love the sounds of the cardinal they are very distinctive, my fave is what sounds like the old time "wolf whistle" lol

Thanks keramikos for the lovely compliment, yes cardinals are more vocal than most birds esp in springtime, I know many think of them only as winter birds (they are so popular on Christmas cards), but here in the northeast we see them all year long and there is nothing like taking a walk & seeing one of these red beauties fly by or up into the trees, or a mated pair eating seeds together - often when you see a red male, the female is close by, esp at bird feeders or on the ground beneath pine trees. They live for many years, you can tell their age by their plumper bodies, the younger ones have a leaner appearance. I was once big on bird watching & IDing them from books, had many types of feeders & have always loved all types of birds

Love it. Cardinals are my favorite bird. I have a bird feeder and Cardinals are the first to show up in the morning and the last to show up in the evenings. They live up to 15 years so become old friends. I really like the way they partner and how the mates watch over each other as one feeds.

Thanks Phil & Kevin for the kind love it is always truly appreciated

Kevin thank you for the wonderful comment I'm so glad you liked this cardinal, totally agree they are wonderful birds to watch esp when you see a mated pair, delightful to see them at feeders (I also used to love watching the occasional bluejay that other crested bird at the feeder, but they are so intimidating they scare all the other birds away!)
