JOBLING OPALESCENT PAPER WEIGHT 1930 S ART DECO ELEPHANT & AN ELEPHANT NEVER FORGETS BUT CAN FORGIVE xxxxxxxxxxx lots of love malkey love ya
A superb and very rare, Jobling of Sunderland U.K., moulded opalescent glass Elephant with trunk up. c.1930's. Jobling's called it "Opalique" glass...being similar in style to Rene Lalique's glass of the same art-deco period. The Elephant is factory signed with the raised moulded letters and numbers:- Rd No 795793 behind the left front leg, the last 3 numbers 793 are not visible though...see last picture. This model is also illustrated in Judith Millar's "20th Century Glass" book page 97. The light blue opalescent glass displays a nice amber colour with the light source coming from behind. Ht.3 3/4"/98mm. x Length.5 7/8"/148mm. All approx. Elephant figurine
