This small vase is 3.25" high x 2.5 at the shoulder and weighs 5.2 ounces, a bit heavy for its diminutive size. The brown stripes are transparent and the green glass is opaque. It is inscribed "A. Allison" on the bottom, but there is no other inscription. There is often a number, perhaps an inventory number, also inscribed on Allison's work. Allison is a Texas art glass artist, born circa 1960, who started making art glass in 1979. Allison showed his work at the Miller Gallery, Cincinnati, OH in 2001, according to the Cincinnati Magazine. I only paid $2.99 for this little vase and I was hoping for a research opportunity out of proportion to its diminutive size, but have been disappointed. Allison has been quite prolific, making a lot of very fine art glass and there are indications that he fairly recently had a gallery in Pottsoboro, TX and a web site (www.allisonglassworks.com), but no longer. The latest signed piece by him that I found is dated 2017. He is still listed on www.artistsintexas.com, though. In addition to art glass, Allison also made novelty glass, goblets and more. My vase may be an early piece, since it bears only his signature and no catalog (?) number.
