I think black glass jewelry is quite special and seductive. I can't resist it. Here are two short necklaces I have and a large brooch. I think the brooch is from around 1910- late 20's and the necklace are later maybe 30-40's?

I have to tell you, I saw this pic on the front page here and I looked at it for a moment and I just knew it was yours!!! I love some black jewelry too. My fav is onyx or jet. I do have some glass beads on a very long strand, 20 flapper style that the string (or thread, whatever they used) broke and the beads are knotted on. I've tried to fix it but it just wouldn't work. I think the whole thing needs to be restrung. Each faceted bead is knotted on and even when you get a knot off it's stuck like glued. maybe that's just because it's so old, don't know.

      Love your brooch too!!!

Thank you Shareurpassion :) Well black glass jewelry is just the poor womans jet or onyx but still beautiful. Having the real thing doesn't sound like a problem LOL :) No just kidding I do understand your problem and I do see now that it's your glass necklace you haven't been able to mend. Yes they are probably stuck because they are old. Have you tryed to use a blunt needle (the kind they used back in the days when they mended socks, if you buy a set of needles they are often still in there) to press the thread through the hole? If it still doesn't work I would try to put the beads in some lukewarm water and washing up liquid for a while and then try the same thing again. If the necklace is very old it can be grees and dust stuck with the string or thread. That should help. That is a grate thing with glassbeads they can "stand" being soaked in water without any problem. When you get the thread out then you just have to restring the whole thing..... I have seen videos on ytube on how to do that part. Looks easy when they do it but it is probably timecunsuming :) I have beads waiting for me to do that :)

Thank you Ms.ChrystalShip than we are two :) I have a few necklaces waiting for tlc...
I think it is molded not carved. Yes black jewelry is classic, very wearable.
