Hi collectors, Thought I would share some cool photos I took today. It was sunny and near 60 so we went to the Iroquois National wildlife refuge near us. There are reportedly 5 Eagle nest on the Refuge but this one you can get pretty close to without bothering the Eagles whose nest is out in the middle of the lake near 2 small wooded islands. Right now there eagle chick is getting bigger and I caught it sitting up looking around probably wondering what 30 of us with cameras were doing standing on the earthen dam. lol, if you stay long enough you can watch the 2 Eagles taking turns heading out to hunt and feeding the young one. Not a bad way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday with family . hope you enjoy these and stay safe!
Very cool, they live around here but I have still never seen one.
Thanks to the EPA eagles returned to the Illinois River about 20 years ago and are now a common sight. I saw my first one when I was in my 40s in an area I have lived in since I was 5 years old. Suds from factory pollution used to be 6-8 feet high on the Illinois when I was young. Now we have places like the Emiquon!
