This is my 9th post in a few days?! :)
I am very happy about my new find. It is an art deco necklace with interesting structure. Some kind of metall, maybe brass, and panels in the front most likely of glass in a color I can't describe (red/salmon pink/brown) and black most likely small glass beads. To the side and back of the necklace there are geometric triangular metall panels. The necklace fits perfectly around my neck. I love the different shapes and structures on it and the fact that it is soo art deco and delicate at the same time. I don't know its origin but it looks french to me. What do you think?
Hi Elisabethan, It does have a look of Jakob Bengel.
Thank you Ms.ChrystalShip. I am quite sure it is antique and true art deco from the time. I have seen similar details on other antique necklaces even if not exactly the same and in reference books and museums. I haven't seen this type of glass stone panels though. They are curved or domed or what one would call it. There really is no texturer they are very smoth and has a very even surface but I can see that because they are "glossy" there are some shadows in the photos that can give that impression. I know Mary well, she is a dear friend and I hope she will stop by. Since I think this is most likely european I am also hoping for Kyratangos thoughts on it since she knows a lot about older european jewelry and french in particular. But I welcome all of you to share your ideas with me. Thanks again :)
Peasejean55 thank you. I wish :) but I think Bengles pieces are more machine age crome like while this is art deco but more delicate and feminie, but that is just how it comes across to me. So between Bengle and this necklace I see two different kinds of expressions from the same era. Thanks Peasejean :)
Thanks CW fellows for loving my post :)
Thank you Valentino. I don't think this is Bengel no. It seems most jewelry they worked with was chrome? Even if I believe they did some clock chains in brass.
I think this has another maker also since I find it not exactly the same style as Bengel.
Hard to say where it is from but my guess is still Germany or France due to style. I bought it here in Sweden and I feel this is imported.
Interesting shapes.Very nice.
Jbingham95 thank you! :)
