My enjoyable glass collecting, then investigating the pieces, another Kralik document for translucent glass decors.

The Butler Brother monograph is responsible for my acute interest in this type of Kralik decorative glass, that is how it started, 3 pieces in an ad, with translucent glass textures, and a small range of colors, with more glass applications in another color.

The shapes were a mix of traditional and deco, in the Czech aesthetic.

I started a search for pieces in the same shapes or same colors or both same shape and colors described by the BB ad of those first 3 pieces. CW has been the recipient of my growing collection of this type of glass, and I did hit a circumstance when some pieces were being attributed to another Czech company. Then it was what do you think is more telling? The decor, glass texture and applications, or the shape?

Here on CW I can post my glass and my documentation. It is a new Hosch catalog from 1910, with different decorative examples for vases by Kralik producers. One image matches my tall clear ribbed vase with the green and clear glass crown of open and tooled ribbon applications. There is also the small round version beside it.

Image 1, is the 1910 version sold by Hosh of the clear and green glass vase, with a different foot base, a Kralik glass page that can be identified with the monograph 59, in black and white images of Kralik glass from the same period. Note that my partial page has several thorn textured glass component pieces, confirming that they too did make this type of textured glass.

My website's purpose was to approach Czech glass that was not very well known, I started with Ruckl and the impetus from the Czech Tango Sklo museum exhibits, which contained a wonderful array of their glass for display.

More: I forgot to mention that part of this specific translucent glass collection by Kralik has different optic textures used which are very consistent. Also the base of the foot rest is designed with impressed rays. The BB ads show the optic designs, I can name them here: vertical ribbed, diamond, paneled, tree bark, and chevron.
