This just arrived yesterday. It's an old Mexican Brooch. It is only marked SILVER and MEXICO. It might have been made in the 1940's.
The flower has been skillfully cut out of one sheet of silver and then bent into shape and attached to the leaf. The leaf forms the base of the brooch. The centre has been embellished with three amethyst cabochons on silver wire. The brooch is about 4 inches and has a weight of just a bit under 60 grams.
This is a nice addition to my Mexican jewellery collection but it won't live in a box. Even though it is a bit of an eccentric piece of jewellery, I intent to wear it (because it suits my personality to a degree).
Thanks for looking:)
Very beautiful silver piece, reminds me of my favorite flower the hibiscus - lovely find Gudrun
You are correct, it does look a bit like it. I am so bad identifying flowers, trees, animals... unless it's the common kind.
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Newfld:)
