I understand that my CW name is hotairfan, I also like early electric fans.
Here are two that I acquired and restored to their like new condition.
The first two pictures show my 1920 "Stat-Rite" electric fan made by the Fitzgerald Mfg. Co.
It has four brass blades measuring 8" across. It stands 11" tall, has one speed, does not oscillate and runs nice and quiet.
The second two pictures show my 1930 Robins & Myers oscillating model 1604A electric fan.
It has four steel blades measuring 16" across. It stands 21" tall, has three speeds and also runs nice and quiet.
I noticed that most of the early fans that I come across, run very quietly and with hardly no vibrations.
The modern fans make significantly more running noise and vibrate excessively, go figure!

I too like electric fans. In fact I joined this site to post my fans. No I am known more for my toys.
Yes you are right about how they run. Back then Al Bersted and the drug store fans not so much. But even those ate 70 years old are still going strong.

Went into a hardware store and asked the cashier, "How much are your $22 fans?". She said,"Ours are $24". We both got a good laugh. Fan R&D is where they install noises & vibrations.
