I love amber. Unfortunately is not very popular here at the moment, I think it has become "old ladies jewelry" and it really is not fair. This fantastic organic gem that it is! Here is a small collection of them that I have. These all pass the tests :)
The pendant on the gold chain is a large beautiful oval amber that I bought for my Mother in the late 80's or early 90's at the
Copenhagen Amber Museum, located in Kongens Nytorv. Now I am looking after it for her since she is to ill to wear it. I know she loved it and it warms my heart thinking it was a gift she loved. The other necklaces I have bought at auctions and found at secon hand shops where they can not have known what kind of material it was.
I love Amber too, being fossilized tree resin, usually it preserves elements from millions of year old forests, a unique glampse into the distant past, great collection!
Thanks Lata, I love amber. Lots of fakes around. Often those that are very clear with insects inside are fakes. Natural real amber often though consists of small pieces of dust and soil which gives them beauty.
Your amber collection is very pretty! I too love amber very much, its sunny warmth and glow.
(And if it's not so fashionable, good; that makes it less expensive for us to buy, right? ;)
