Chest found in the Mahantongo Pa Valley area..
There are two faint but undeniably present pencil SIGNATURES found on the entire inside back panel board.. Very visible with light but unable to discern.. Photo #16, inside bottom corner, is the picture that shows the large letter script.. Very very difficult to photo.. There is one signature covering upper panel appears to be " Jacobb ___" and other covering lower panel, "Michele or Michell?" along with the date of April 29th 41' (95% sure of date).. Appears there are middle initials and then what appears to be the same last name?, "__wer?".. All original green, red and black paint finish with what appears to be a white gesso base / ground.. Chest is dovetailed front and back.. Square nails.. Lidded till inside.. Trim on lid appears to be wooden pegged.. All original key escutcheon and BALDWIN hinges.. Gorgeous TURNED TALL FEET.. Beautiful appropriate oxidation and patina.. ALL ORIGINAL untouched condition and all characteristics of Mahantongo Valley craftsmanship..
