I was finally able to obtain one of this artist's iconic V-shaped necklaces, the red glass, red rhinestone & pave white rhinestone deco design front piece measuring 3 1-2"W and goldtone link chain 10". I placed the back with signature over a print of Mr Barclay's "Pacific Fleet" which illustrates the Pearl Harbor invasion of 1941. His jewelry was made between 1938-1943
Jenni, I love McClelland Barclay. What a fabulous example of his work. You probably are well aware of his life as an illustrator, designer and then Navy artist. I love his jewelry. This is a totally iconic piece. Do you collect his sterling jewelry also?
Thanks to all for the love

Maureen I'm so glad you are another M Barclay fan, I really love his beautiful and very original jewelry, and the wartime art as well. He was a romantic figure of his day I think with all his diversity, his sterling pieces are gorgeous as well but I prefer those like this with "bling" - you know it's remarkable the stones were so precision set that you never see a piece with missing stones. I have one other brooch but hope to add more in future, thanks so much for the wonderful comment
Thank you Mary for the great praise, I hoped you would enjoy this it was a special find for me, most of these necklaces are crazy expensive but once in awhile an affordable one pops up & I got lucky, glad you enjoyed. You will enjoy researching this talented man, his jewelry was only a sideline in his life, as Maureen mentioned he was also an artist and magazine illustrator as well as a sculptor (there are examples of the latter on CW)
What an absolutely stunning necklace. My goodness!!!
Thank you Glamorously for the wonderful gracious compliment & love, I am really pleased that you enjoyed my M Barclay necklace, I don't have all that many necklaces in my collection so this one is very special to me
Beautiful necklace, I love the deco look in the center!
Beautiful piece Jenni! I first thought for sure this was gold, glad you finally scored it! It's so much fun to finally find something you're searching for at a great price, isn't it?! And then there's that mail day anticipation!!!
Thank you for the very kind love

Thank you MrsT for the super compliments, I too love that deco front piece it was a very distinctive design by Mr Barclay, never copied by anyone else and truly original like he was. I'm hoping to add more of his pieces in future
Thanks so much share for the wonderful praise it's very kind of you, and yes I totally agree it was a good score and waiting for its arrival was anticipatory & rather apprehensive as these days the covid has made my mails slower, and it seems there are still sellers who would rather refund your $ rather than deal with mailing with their p.o. The necklace does shine like real gold, and to think its @ 80 yrs old, amazing right
Thank you glassiegirl & poticheman for the love it is very much appreciated!
Thank you all for the kind love
