Just finished a restoration of this very rare Pan Am Award model. It had received some damage to its aft fuselage and the current owner wanted it to be professionally repaired. In addition the finish had been heavily oxidized to the point where all the names were difficult to distinguished. Typically these had polished airplanes and support arms but the top part of the base would always have a brushed or sanded satin look. These were not polished as the reflected glare of the model over the polished base making it difficult to read the names and words. It has a finish that represents how it appeared in 1939.
