Between 1900 and 1904, at a time when Art Nouveau was in full swing, the famous retailer E. Bakalowits Söhne of Vienna commissioned Loetz to produce works designed by many talented designers, such as Kolo Moser, Otto Prutscher, Leopold Bauer, and Arno Richter, to name a few. With their geometric rocket-like shapes and sleek fins, some of these pieces look like they would be right at home in the Art Deco period which was still a couple of decades away. The piece pictured here is Candia Silberiris, Form No. 85/3824, ca. 1901.
EXTRUDED wings...so technically advanced for 1900. Superb!
This is cool! Twenty five years before Fritz Lang's Metropolis!
Rare shape, simple yet elegant, and difficult to create with the extruded wings all set off by luscious Silberiris giving this piece an amazing iridescent finish. Wow! Congratulations, Warren on an awesome find.
