I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this small footed dish (4" diameter/2 1/2" tall). It is plain white except for the raised gold handpainted design. The back stamp, a variation of the many Morimura Brothers back stamps, appears to only have the words "Hand Painted" above the wreath with the M inside. There is nothing below it. I can't find any other examples of this type of bowl OR that particular back stamp on the web. I would appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give!
The M stands for Morimura Bros, the importer of porcelain. If the mark would have said Nippon underneath the wreath, the piece was made between 1911 and 1921. After 1921 tariff law required labeling with the English name, so imported porcelain would be labelled Japan. I believe there is a Nippon Collectors Club that could give you more information.
Thanks so much. I do appreciate your help.
