This is a hand carved and painted eastern dancer on a tie tack. I would love to know of its significance if any. The background white is either stone or shell. The dancer appears to be kneeling on her right knee. I am not at all sure what she holds out in her right hand. This was in my father's tie tack and clasp collection but I never saw him wear this. My guess is that he may have purchased this in the early 1940's Poland (????)
Figure looks like an Apsara, heavenly dancer from the Hindu tradition.
