      If it is military, it seems to be related to a bridge building battalion.

      There was a Meyer company in NY in the 1930's that made badges for different uses. I seem to remember there were different family members involved but can't remember the initials. Doing a google for them might be a start for you. I have had several police badges from makers in NYC

      I love the heraldic pin design of the shield. Very nice.

      It is WW2 period US Army. The three color background and design would make me think it is an artillery unit.
