Got this in a junk lot as well. It is heavy and I got a close-up of the type numbers on it. Unsure of year or purpose.

I am old enough to remember the day I used stampers to mark merchandise in the grocery store I worked at. We would use ink eradicator to dissolve the ink when the prices went up or down:)
I used one to mark grocery prices in my dad’s store...stamping prices was one of my favorite responsibilities there, back in the 1960s.
Aww crap Cokeman, yet *one more thing* that I'm certain I have a similar one of around here somewhere, and probably haven't got around to showing yet...?

Watchsearcher and Anything......I thought I was a big shot wearing my holster with my stamper in it at the grocery store. I have stamped no telling how many cans of vegetables in my day and I remember the price,they were .18 cents:)

I recently found an old stamper along with a small box containing several replacement belts of numbers for it when I cleaned out my dad’s shed.
Unfortunately, the stamper was so rusted/corroded, it couldn’t be salvaged but the box somehow was undamaged and the belts were perfect. I kept the box of belts just for old-times sake.
Watchsearcher....you better know it:) The essentials were a box cutter (several injuries learning about that) the stamper,ink eradicator and a strong back! Those were the days. My dad was a supermarket manager and he took me to work with him early on and he never paid me cash. At the end of the day he said I am paying you with experience. He was right! Thanks Dad!

I did get paid...in cash, every Monday. What ever minimum wage was back in the ‘60s.....it wasn’t much, I do recall that.
Pay day was on Monday because, as my dad knew from experience, if he paid on Thursday or Friday, no one would show up for work on the weekend.
Thanks for posting your old stamper and dredging up all the memories from way back then......(sigh)...
I worked at Jacks hamburgers and made 1.60 per hour and I thought I was in trouble when the manager called me in the office and he gave me a .05 cent raise bringing me up to 1.65 an hour. Living at home and making the dough!
Oh yes! Fast cars and everything:)
