I suspect this is (French manf.) North Eastern Italy (borders with France) community mitilia short sword. But despite numerous searches I can not find same sword on internet. From appearance relates to (19th cent.)1831 French gladius short sword but has smaller dimensions. Blade: 525mm/20 3/4" O/a: 655mm/25 1/2"
Width: 30mm/1 1/4". Any information appreciate. gdh

As you probably know, they are generally called "artillery short swords".

I know artillery short swords quite well. But this is very different in blade design and size. PLUS IT'S ENGRAVED BLADE "milizia Comunal" indicates something quite different! Still do not know what it is, obviously pretty rare but would love for it to be identified. Thanks anyway. Regards gary

Milizia is I-tal-yan, so I guess you search there. I don't remember running into an Italien artillery short sword (until now).
