My father was the trustee to the Cohan estate. Georgette Cohan gave this diary to my father with instructions to place it in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan with "all of dad's things." However, I have tried to do this and they didn't want it - without even looking at it! I have tried many auction houses and I get the same response - a cold shoulder! My God it's George M. Cohan's father's Diary!!! An American Icon! The Yankee Doodle Dandy!!! Born on the 4th of July!! Although, if you turn to the 3rd of July George's father Jerry writes, "George is fin years old." Leaving no doubt about his real birthday...

I knew your father, John Drew, whose office was at 501 Fifth Avenue. I conferred with him about 1985 regarding the Cohan estate. I was a friend of GMC Jr. and his daughter Michaela, both now deceased. As an author and historian, I can put you in touch with the proper people to get this treasure into the George M. Cohan Papers or another appropriate public collection. Please email me at ten_acres_enough@yahoo.com.
