    Does anyone know who painted this on velvet? Signed off as "Guntey" as far as I can read. Found in a second hand shop in uk

      Appears to be a Korean War era GI souvenir. The topic is typical and I have seen others quite similar.

      Typical of late 20th century velvet paintings.

      I don't see anything that suggests this is a Korean War souvenir-- looks like an old guy from South of the Border wearing a sombrero.

      I disagree-- The subject appears to be "South of the Border" (US) as in Mexico.

      Don't know where it was made. Most that I have seen are a decade past the Korean War (or later).

      There are examples that I have encountered with Viet Nam era subjects.
