This is a late 1800s “Aladdin style” Simpson Hall & Miller Company Coffee and Tea Set, complete with Tray and Cream and Covered Sugar. There is a fifth, smaller pot ... or “Waste Bowl.” SHM manufactured hollowware in both Canada and Wallingford, Connecticut. Their years of existence are 1866 - 1898. This set was made in the USA. It was ... is considered a somewhat high quality set — and was quadruple plated. I have not yet identified the pattern name; but do understand that Yale University has resources that will likely help. Many of the antique SHM coffee & tea sets that are known to exist have been replated. This grouping has not (yet) been refreshed.

The set was rehomed to me in 2018. It was acquired in northwest Calgary, which borders on what were some of the biggest ranch lands of southern Alberta, the ranches that came into existence in the 1880s. The CPR steel reached Calgary in 1882-3; and there was regular, comfortable rail accommodation (including shipment of goods) used by settler elites from overseas through New York to Calgary by 1885.

    Coffee Pot — 11” high x 9” wide
    Tea Pot — 9 1/2” high x 8 1/2” wide
    Sugar Bowl — 7 1/2” high x 7” wide
    Creamer — 6” high x 5 1/4” wide
    Waste Bowl — 6” x 6”
    Tray — 22 1/4” long x 15” wide

Thank you, Phil. I spoke to some collectors yesterday about what I should do about the surface of this set. They seem to think it shouldn’t be replated. I’m not sure. It is somewhat distressed. I’m still thinking .... As yet, no answers about pattern name.
