First, it ain't actually mine, it otherwise resides in the pasture out behind one of my 'sister-in-law's' house, where it apparently has been for a very very long time already. I just finally got around to taking some pics of it yesterday during a small family gathering there.
Second, I don't even know who made it or how old it really is...something about it strikes me as Ford but I could be way wrong on that...?
Its only remaining badging is the V-8 in pic 4, I couldn't make out if there's actually a brand name on the hubcap also shown there. Its engine and transmission are also long gone, the only things now under where its hood used to be are basically a battery shelf and a few assorted 'weed-trees'.
If anybody does recognize what it really is, please DO speak up!! :-) :-) :-)
[EDIT 28May 2020, thanks SO MUCH to all who've commented below to clue me into what this old truck really is/was -- turns out I was really 'way wrong' on my FOMOCO guess?!! Here's a link to four more pics of it just posted! :-) ]

[EDIT 21Jun 2020: I've just accidentally found out some further info on this particular truck, when mentioning to my (former) partner that I'd shown the pics here. He relates two further details which I found fun -- that this truck was the very first vehicle his Father (who I never met) actually bought 'brand new' back in 1956 -- and that this truck was the very first motor vehicle he himself actually learned to drive (at approx. age 7...it is 'the country' up there after all?!) at least around the pastures, hayfields, and gravel county roads. Can 'ya imagine a typical 7yr old trying to manage the clutch and gearshift (at the very least?) on this thing??? OH, but I bet there was a whole lotta 'gear grinding' going on with all that... <LOLOL>]
looks just like my old 55 .. but this came with a V8 ...looks like to short bed as well cant really tell,.. I would have this back on the road in few short weeks ..nice find ..now fix it ....lol
1956 Chev.
1955 had a one piece emblem mounted below the horizontal line of the front fender.
1956 had a two piece emblem mounted above the horizontal line of the front fender.
Cool old truck.
There appears to be a third generation 1977-79 Square Body Chev in the background as you look through the back window......
Sorry - You may delete my comments - I don't mind at all.
the front grill was used on 55 - 56.....

THANKS SO VERY MUCH to Broochman, poticheman, Hoot60, and keramikos for your *most informative* comments and links!! Hoot60, keramikos is absolutely correct, I wouldn't *think* of deleting your information!! (and you're also completely correct about the red late 70's truck further in the background, I actually think there's a 2nd one of those out back there too, somewhere?!)
Keramikos, your 'feral couches' made me giggle for a moment remembering something I once saw in a tiny little south AR town I was otherwise just passing thru...someone with a (sick?) sense of humor had taken a typical iron pipe yard swing frame and otherwise chained an (ugly 1970's 'early American style') fully upholstered sofa to it instead and had it sitting out in their yard. <LOL>
MORE THANKS of course going out to kwqd, fortapache, Broochman, Newfld, Hoot60, Brunswick, keramikos, vetraio50, EJW-54, iggy, & Vynil33rpm for your <love it> button taps!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
<LOLOLOL> keramikos!! It just looked so dreadfully weird hanging there. (w/its typical 70's big floral print style upholstery, dust ruffle, cushions, and all that still mostly intact, swinging itself gently in that morning's breeze) OH, how I wish I would have had the ability (presence of mind, whatever) to have got a picture of it so I could actually back up what *is* an absolutely true story... <giggle>
One of these days in the future I'll try to grab a few pics of another 'feral couch' which has otherwise been laying around in the shrubbery/trash dump at another sister-in-law's house for a long time now...long enough in fact that it has hosted a (likely surprisingly large) colony of bees inside its remains, for at least the last 3 or 4 yrs since I've noticed them all coming and going from the various holes in its remaining upholstery.
Throwing in a quick further comment because I've just edited this showing with a few more 'historic details' of this truck. Hope y'all enjoy! :-) :-) :-)
