These meoto yunomi measure, larger cup 3.5" high x 3" wide, smaller cup 3" high x 2.5" wide. Very thin and made of white clay. The seller is in St. Paul, Minnesota where she found them at a sale.

What really caught my eye is the very unusual stamped mark on the bottom. It does not look like writing to me, but the seller has a Chinese exchange student who thought it was Japanese and the seller is leaning that way, too, but is unsure. I made multiple images and manipulated them in several ways in an attempt to make the signature more clear. The image lower right is not manipulated. Using the seller's so-so images with permission until they arrive. Very inexpensive and a good research opportunity. I will use these since they came with no box, just a couple of loose yunomi which appear to be from a meoto yunomi set.

After receiving it, I think it may be initials with was stylized bowl of flowers on top. Maybe "GI" under a bowl flowers? At any rate, leaning away from Japanese, but putting in my Japanese pottery collection as the Japanese influence is very dominant.

Thanks Jewelryantiquelover and Blammoammo! I even got desperate enough to check the Klingon alphabet! I guess it could be very stylized Japanese...

After staring at the marks on these cups for a long time, longer than is mentally healthy, I think the marks are actually initials (GI?) under a stylized bowl of flowers (poppies?)... Best seen in the two lower right images in image #4.
