Showing #1 of what will be two total, for more pics of this most fun acquisition.
The metal box measures about 11" x 7" x 4", and contains (along with other stuff) a really cool aluminum bodied electric drill -- "Speed Way" logo cast into both sides, its nameplate calls it a "Thor SpeedDrill type 201J". Its chuck is stamped "SUPREME HIA CHUCK CHICAGO 0-1/4 CAP". Its original cord with metal springie strain relief is still in excellent condition and YES, the drill still runs *JUST FINE*?!! (if only simply on/off...no 'variable speed' or 'reversible' here...) :-) :-) :-)
The box itself has a label calling it a "Thor SpeedTools DRILL KIT" with "CICERO 50, ILLINOIS" beneath, by that address at least I'll call this a solid 1950's machine. Amongst the various loose items also in the box are its chuck key, a metal drill index case, (by RADNOR of Waterbury CT) a couple of small boxes containing other assorted (high quality!) drill bits/countersinks/whatnot, a couple of spurious extra little tools, and a handful of assorted hardware bits.
