Still yet another fine edition from Greenlight. This is from the Estate Wagons Series which is to say station wagons. Hopefully they will do some woodies.
This is the classic VW Sqareback with an attractive luggage rack. Apparently this is the 1968 version. They didn't change much from year to year. Greenlight also makes a 1965 version so it is probably the same casting with perhaps a difference in trim.
It has a very nice trailer hook. Actually it is the ball just like the real thing as I said it is very nice. So I hooked up the Greenlight teardrop trailer to it. Originally the trailer came with a matching VW bug with the same paint scheme but I think it looks better this way. Looks more natural.
I still have 3 more die cast cars to post not counting the Matchbox so keep your love button hitting finger ready.
Is it a 1 78" or 2" ball hitch. 1 5/16" ? Just joking, but have wondered why they made diff. sizes so close together ? Anybody know ?
Looks great with the trailer
There are different size balls for different weight loads. Not only are the balls different sizes, the pins underneath are different sizes as well. Again, bigger for more weight loads.
Nice Greenlight detail again. The luggage rack is 5 star, it's the best I've seen on a toy or die cast.
Missed my point. Why not make one size and be done with it ?
Hitch balls are used to indicate, generally, the tow rating of a vehical. If all hitch balls were the same size, the less intelligent or otherwise obtuse types would attempt to tow a trailer far above their vehical's rated ability. Having a very small ball on a small vehical prevents the most obvious mishaps. Maybe so a person wouldn't mistakenly try to haul a trailered yacht to the lake with a Volkswagon Jetta....a visual clue. Oh look....this trailer with a big ball receiver may not work for this small ball.....
That's why you have the smallest ball on the hitch and some duct tape to "shim" it up for the larger trailer hitches. It gives you universal compatibility.
LMAO Toy !! Yeah, we have to figure in the inherent stupidity of the human race.
Funny Toyrebel :)
On the farm - we had multi ball hitches on our big trucks. Little trucks with muti ball hitches usually had sagging suspensions and burnt up transmissions.
Thank you very much bb2. I think you got an answer.
Thank you very much elanski.
Thank you very much Hoot for answering the ball question.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. Yes the luggage rack is really nice on this.
