Hello CW Members, Followers, Friends and Visitors.
I wish to find more of this kind of very interesting utilitarian, I can visualize this little box in a smoking house mid century, on a nice boudoir table with a bunch of Man talking sport or whatever, and this little box supplied Cigarette, original colour, never polish for quite some time, the lid is bombed an kind of Silver-plated with lot of tarnishing, some flowers and leaf's in Art nouveau style a very cute Terrier dog acting as an handle in the middle, we can see where they touch constantly to open and close the box, the base part is bright Red with some wear also that make it very charming and attractive, donation price, I can't let it go anywhere else.
This little cigarette box is 5.25 inches long, 3.50 inches deep by 1.50 inches high(excluding the Terrier)
Many thanks to all of you for Viewing.
Enjoy
Alan
The Scottie dog is beautifully formed, great find Alan!
Very cool- I especially love the little scotch terrier and imagine it's the kind of box a highland lair keeps his cigars in maybe?
This is an utterly charming piece. The Scottie dog's pose is adorable, the floral/leaf design is very pleasing, and the red (paint? enamel?) beautifully complements the brass lid. Wonderful find!
You might enjoy reading this article about the Scottie dog craze of the 1930s and onward. I had an elderly auntie who owned all sorts of Scottie-dog items like these!
