Anyone have any idea on the age and purpose of this dresser? I’m guessing it may have had a mirror attached to the back before and was some sort of hallway tree? It isn’t the sturdiest construction, other than front and top. It is on wooden casters and the only mark I can find says 160 1/2 stenciled on the back. The drawer pulls are mounted on super thin metal plates. Dovetail construction (photographed here is the front of the drawer, the back dovetail looks much more rudimentary). Thanks for any info!
Based on style and construction, I would think it is early 20th century.

Rollers are from the pre carpet days so those are a good sign of having some age.
I wouldn't touch it. Despite all you see on TV about restoring antiques that generally will decrease value.
Thank you! I will leave it as is. Do you think hardware is original? The plate is so thin it is pliable. Is it thin brass? By the way, I should note that someone had this on the curb as trash. I’m so glad I found it!
I wouldn't paint it, but it isn't a big ticket item; so painting isn't going to hurt it much. Do whatever will get it used.
The easiest way to tell on the hardware is to look on the inside of the drawer and see the holes-- if there are any extras covered by the hardware.

Gotcha...I think I’ll just leave her as-is, even if she isn’t worth much. There are no other holes for hardware and uses square nuts on back. Maybe they are original. I’m just not sure if the material. Thanks for all the help! This will be going in my house in the country, built in 1900. Kismet!
I have to agree with scottvez. Looks pre war and the dovetails are machine cut. I see no indication of a mirror having ever been mounted on it. What few blemishes it has could be touched up with a color matched touch up pencil/crayon available at Home Depot or Lowe's for a couple bucks.
