Bought this on a hunch for some reason a few weeks ago. Think it is from Civil War era after looking up badges online but not certain. It is heavy made and appears to be silver metal, non magnetic, not pewter. Little over 1/16th inch thick.
I would say you have a reproduction that was probably used when they put on a show for special anniversaries or 4th of July etc.
Looks like a civil war reunion badge
One my ancestors missed? Probably poor quality captured Yankee ammo. LOL
Oh well - so it is a piece of junk. Will go to the junk drawer..
If this is a reproduction - how do you tell? The pin secure is an old style kind with simple c closure.
One of my ancestors served in this unit.
It is likely a unit medal Eli Gray is from
GRAY, Eli Private Crab Apple Aug 22, 1862 Disch. Apr 7, 1863; disabil
I have no reason to think it is commemorative, It is hand stamped
Do some research
