dixie tall chest

So I saw this piece at Facebook Market place the lady was selling it for 80.00. I liked the piece because it looked like a french provincial chest. After looking at the piece I notice the drawers were made differently and it had the word, Dixie etched on the inside of the drawer. I am not sure what type of wood. After stripping the multiple amounts of paint colors which were 3. I was able to get it to look like what you see in the 2nd picture. Could someone tell me what type of wood is it? I would like to stain it and give it to my son.
