The ADLAKE NON-SWEATING [railroad signal] LAMP, #1 (of a pair)

I actually have a matching pair of this particular model lantern, this showing is for pics more of their exteriors, my next post (shortly, stay tuned) will be more of their insides.

Both are rather heavy cast iron/steel contraptions, obviously meant to first hold some kind of kerosene (etc) burning lamp, now missing from both. They measure about 19" high with the handle up, their bodies themselves are about 15" tall and generally 7" round, more like 10" at their widest across the lens protrusion. They hold one roughly 5-1/4" clear fresnel lens on their fronts, one side has a hasp latch to allow its top to be hinged open, as well as a small 'sight glass' and control knob to adjust whatever burner fixture used to be in there. The side also features two control levers which can introduce either a red or green colored 'filter' between the light source and fresnel lens, allowing the light to show as either red, green, or (maybe?) white.

At the bottom of the back of each is a rather heavy duty cast iron 'bracket' which suggests these lanterns actually hooked onto (but were also easily removable from) whatever sorta equipment, for whatever purpose (regular servicing, likely?) they were really intended to do. I know *absolutely NOTHING* else about what that might have been...??
