THE ADLAKE NON-SWEATING [railroad signal] LAMP (#4)

Here's the last one of my (big, unusual-ish) railroad lanterns for today. Also made by ADLAKE of CHICAGO it,like all the others is only identified as such by its top lid, and has no other apparent model number or other specific info on it anywhere I've been able to find.

This one is 18" tall with its handle up, over a roughly 14" body measuring about 7-1/2" square, more like 14" across it if including the iron brackets (pic 3) and the front protrusion that holds an 8-1/2" red fresnel lens. (pic 2) Pic 3 shows its likewise upwards sliding 'access door' at its backside, pic 4 shows the backside of that lens and the 4-1/2" plain clear glass 'side lights' on either side. Pic 4 shows that somebody has rigged an electric bulb and socket inside it, but it does not appear any actual damage was done to the light itself by that.

Based on the brackets and lens configuration, I might guess (but only a guess) that this one was intended to be a "caboose light", just because that seems kinda logical...??
