My grandma passed last fall and while going through her estate we came across this. It belonged to her mom and all the kids thought it had been lost years ago.
I think it's from the early 1900's. I would love more info, like a model or anything really. None of my aunts or uncles know a lot about it.

Model 28 from 1910. Is that a hand cranked unit?

Fortapache I don't know but it wouldn't be electrical at all. They are/were Amish.

That's a gorgeous machine, I love the hand turned ones!

According to the serial number, it's a model 28, made between March and May of 1910! Here's the link to a description of the model:
      http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/model-list/classes-1-99.html
Turns out there are versions, so it's probably the 28-9, 28-4, or 28-2

It's always best to double check, however, so run it through this identification guide, and possibly narrow it down

Others have more info, but hopefully I helped!

Long comments on data might not be my best idea :D
