This 1 1-2"W gold wash (vermeil) sterling pin shows a rhinestone accented eagle grasping a flagpole with US flag, and is ca 1940s wartime era with a C-clasp, marked Sterling by Coro (1901-1979) on back

Yes I think this eagle & flag pose is quite dramatic too, maybe they were inspired by the flag raising on Iwo Jima. You know there was a great doc on TV today about eagles, how they have a 6 ft wingspan & their eyes are the sharpest of all animals (including man)
