This 2 1-4"W goldtone brooch shows an old time circus animal cage open transport car with a sculpted lion inside, accented with colorful mini rhinestones. By the American Jewelry Chain Co (AJC) ca 1980s, have also seen this cage car with different animals including ape, tiger and giraffe

That's a very different type of brooch there, the whole aspect of the lion being framed by a cage is really unusual and the little jewels set into it are a nice touch too. :) I'd also like to see the giraffe version of this brooch too, (how would you manage to squeeze a giraffe behind a cage frame like that?)

Thanks six-0-one for your wonderful comment, I agree it would be great to get the full set, and maybe I will work on doing just that!

Lauren thank you for the lovely compliments, yes it is a pretty concept and nice that it's three dimensional with the mini rhinestones. Guess what the giraffe looks like, his head is inquisitively peeking OVER the car, perched to one side as if accepting a treat! Really one day I'll find it & post that too

Thank you always for your great comments MrsT you are such a kind person with such sweet praise, I'm so glad you liked the rhinestone accents here. I was going for a circus theme today because that's in the spirit of a summer holiday, at least in my memory :)

And for Mr G, I have heard you and appreciate your opinion. Remember that this is only a vintage brooch and these circus cars were part of history, in no way do I endorse cruelty to animals.

I think that's amazing they made this brooch with different animals.
Imagine having a line of them on your jacket! :)))

Lol Karen I am now picturing in my head a line of the different animal brooches and making a full circus transport train on my person, wouldn't THAT be a conversation piece!! I actually saw an old film with Fredric March about a traveling circus with these open animal transport cars as a train, plus in my memory there was a way station where circus train cars could park but by then they were closed freight cars (with high windows so the animals had air), yet still pictures of the animals were on them so you knew what they contained - their destination was a nearby arena for their appearances. Thank you as always for your really terrific compliments + love, and bringing back some fond memories

Thanks Rose & dlp for the kind love it is always most gratefully appreciated & so glad you liked my circus lion

Rose this one really gets attention, I think it is a very realistic image of a circus lion in his transport cage, a vintage design from days gone by when you could actually see the animal traveling. Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment & support :)
