As the 'hood just east of me (and even my own 'hood and indeed probably also lots of other folks around the USA tonite) otherwise continues to kinda erupt in the most enjoyable noise/smoke/etc of fireworks tonite because most of the "official" shows were otherwise reduced/cancelled to virus stuff (not that I can *see* any of it...too much old growth tree cover in my backyard, but...) I otherwise offer this and several more posts to come shortly prompted by (and because of) certain *other* things besides Jul4th 'in the news' recently.
This is the "7th St. Union Pacific RxR viaduct", one of its two bridges still a very active part of the UP mainline tracks thru here. Being located in a usually kinda not heavily traveled part of town, it has for many years (it is probably a WPA project??) been prone to random uninspired 'graffiti' for as long as I've been here and known it was there. Frankly it has always been one of my mostest-favoritest old RxR bridges anywhere around town, just because of its (to me) inherent design details/beauty...SO much more interesting than the generic plain-looking stuff that usually passes for any sorta bridge these days. BUT ANYWAYS...
Since this whole most recent "civil rights unrest" movement has re-emerged, the "graffiti" here has taken a whole new direction. MUCH more surface area, MUCH more actual art, MUCH more actual meaning than ever before. There's been a good bit of local news coverage (including interviews with the main artists, by pseudonymn) but only today did I get my own chance to drive under there, park w/flashers on, and take pics. I was not alone, shortly before we finished taking our pics an actual small "church bus" full of (white, if it matters?) spectators also stopped for all their own pic taking.
None of these 4 pics (nor the prolly 3 following showings) are in any particular order. Hopefully the message they all convey doesn't really matter in that regard...we ALL need a little more PEACE these days... ??
