I have a doll thatis around 19 inches tall. She is very pretty with original hair and glass eyes. She has a jointed kid body ...but it is in rough condition. Her shoulder plate has obviously been replaced. Is she a French doll or a German doll.? She has the number 11 on the back of her neck...but that is the only marks I can find. I have her original clothes...but they are pretty tattered.

Wow stunning early closed mouth shoulder head bisque doll . Dating 1800s . She has the appearance of a German "Made for French Market Doll " . Does she have a solid dome head or is there a pate or opening on top of head ? Has a very French look .

I re-looked at body by blowing up photo. She is not on right body . So Now I am starting to lean toward her being a French doll . She is also a swivel neck doll making her a very high quality doll. The body is to small and that is why shoulder plate is sticking out , Be careful it doesn't get accidentally banged on something as it is unprotected and I would NOT trust head and shoulder attachment as it is since the head could fall off too . Did you look under hair for a mark ?

I also question if that is original shoulder plate ? Are they same color in person ?

The shouldEr plate has been replaced ... her head has a hole in the top ... it was stuffed with cloth. I did not see any markings there ... she has a really pretty face and eyes ... thanks for your opinions as to what she is!

      Hi
She should be on a fully jointed composition body not the kid leather or shoulder plate. She is a socket head doll and if put on a french compo body or German one she would be perfect and one of the prettiest I have seen and I have seen seen thousands . Appears to have some bisque impurities from the liquid pour . The little black specks which do not depreciate her value . I was ruling out a Belton type head but with opening it is not. I hope you find correct body . Some dolls we can't always say exactly who made them but because there is no country of origin stamped into mold it is pre 1891 .

      A body like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/B01-Antique-17-inches-Tall-Body-for-22-French-German-Bisque-Head-Doll-Good/224074201501?hash=item342bdcf99d:g:Wd8AAOSwH6xfB7D0

you will have to measure neck on doll to get correct size

Wow... thanks... I did not know they put a bisque head on a composition body ... she is missing her neck... the shoulder plate she is attached to has the neck . I will have to search for a body that includes a neck I think . I always thought the hands looked way to small compared to her head .

She appears to have a neck where the numbers are ? The inside of a composition body has a opening just like the replaced shoulder plate . The socket on bottom of head fits into it and it stops it from falling into body . I will take a photo of a head off body showing whole neck and the opening on the body . Send me a email so I can send photo to you no way to add to this post . Manikin1234@hotmail.com

I got to thinking about what I said... I double checked and she does have a neck ... lol... so I measure the diameter of her neck and find a comparable body on eBay or do place like that? Interesting video .

I forgot to mention she is what is called a open closed mouth doll . I looked back and see I did not mention that . Meaning her lips are parted a bit but there is no opening .

Amazing Doll! by the thick eyebrows and other paint characteristics, i would say she is as French "Jumeau".
    13. Manikin Manikin, 4 years ago
I agree she is in the style of the French doll maker however she is not marked and Jumeau did mark theirs . So it is unclear exact maker . She looks French but German makers like Kestner and others that made heads that looked French for export to France also . So Since I don't guess at maker unless I am sure I am going to say likely German made for French export , But at this time unknown maker . With a small possibility of her being french .
