    Does anyone know what the ferrule and tube that it covers are for? The plastic ferrule screws onto the base and it covers a small metal tube.

    Could it be for attaching signage or something?

      I took it apart and there is a light bulb in the base! Now I need to see if I can find anything that shows how it was wired up and what type of current and voltage it uses.
