Is it Kralik or is it not? Recent revelations have called several attributions into question. The “Iris” finish, the “Millefiore” decors have both undergone new scrutiny. Even the arched Kralik mark faces question if it turns out that it appears on the products of another firm.
It should be a surprise to no one that, when it comes to the decorative glassware of interwar Czechoslovakia, there is likely more unknown, little known, undiscovered, or hidden away than what is supportably attributed today. I have been an appreciator of Czech glass for a long time and have spent the past five years or so trying to do some serious study. I've learned there are more theories than facts. We can only hope that more production literature will be found. Meanwhile, we can still enjoy the glass for its intrinsic beauty.
Vase is 8¼" (21 cm) tall with a 2¾" (7 cm) diameter foot.
A tricky and difficult area of research Harry, and one that seems to be passionately contested!
I have a large bowl in this pattern with the same mark.
You're really getting into glass now ! What I used to jokingly call "one time targets". LOL !! Had a lot of fun in the early CW days !
Lucas, you are a lot of fun participating in your own unique way, hope you are well.
Harry, I agree with your point of view. Seems our ID construct is a little shaky, built on a lot of time and research as well as expense, but not enough documentation. I always knew 6 years ago, all it would take is a good document, to trow the whole thing down like a tornado....
