I have never run across anything this unique before. I'm assuming it was a jewelry display case. There are 3 graduated drawers on two-sides. There are a total of six graduated secret drawers inside (three on each side). The square glass display case lifts off. There is a key, but locking mechanism is not working properly. The chest without the glass display stands 12" tall, is 16" wide and 12" deep. The glass display case on top measures 9"H x 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"D. Each of the drawers have very fine dovetailing. The wood is walnut with raised burl panels.
Can anyone help me identify the age, purpose and value of this unique treasure?
