This is a chunky white Coro set from the 1950s. The Lucite Coro sets were a favourite of women who had returned to civilian life after War and Home Front duties in the late 1940s. These women, usually in their early 30s in the 1950s, often wore full jewelry sets such as this in their everyday ... weekday office or home lives — a custom that has not transferred to present day. The necklace is 16 1/2” in length. The set is marked.
Beautiful white Coro set with a very nice design, it's great to have all the matching pieces
Thank you, Newfld. You’re correct — it is often difficult to find all pieces. I consider myself fortunate when I do.
Thanks, Eileen. My mother did so, as well. Looking through the old newspapers, there were patterns (Simplicity, esp.) advertised once a week.
Thank you, all, for the Loves on this set.
I remember my mother dressing up just to go to town and her russian white hat with the large gold star and her hair like golden gossamer in the sun, like she just cloned an angel from heaven or the Emerald City. She had her dressers especially made for her, had one Sherman necklace and one of dark blue tied beads, I remember.
I LOVE those gorgeous white shaped stones on this set, just what I EXPECT from coro, they had the best colour ads almost anywhere in the 40's & 50's !!
Thank you dear Leanne and Eileen for the Roses and selection of chocolates I received in the hospital today, August 12, 2020. That was beyond kind !!
Phil —
That is a great memory, and your love of your mother is evident in its sensitive telling, it’s details. I’m sure she cherished you as you do her.
